Unwinds

Many processes dictate that multiple unwind stands be incorporated into the web line. The necessity could be related to a multi web lamination process, or it could simply be required for staging a new jumbo roll in order to reduce downtime while a splice is being made. For these customers, New Era offers custom designed multi-position unwind stands. These units can be incorporated with accumulators so as not to stop the process while splices are being made and can also be provided with splice tables, allowing lap splicing, butt splicing or zero tail lap splices depending on the process needs. Additionally, we can incorporate a variety of semi-automatic and automatic splicing mechanisms on these units to give you on-the-fly splicing capability. All of our single position unwinds are provided with automatic tension control and diameter calculation, and can also incorporate features such as shaft-less chucking of varying web widths, automatic guiding and built in pull rolls.  Our unwind systems are purpose built for the application and can be cantilever in design for narrow webs, cantilever with an outboard support for wider, heavier bundles which require cantilever unwind and loading, or dual side support for web applications up to 20 feet wide.
